Community smart power

Do you want to have a more comfortable home and spend less on energy?

Do you want to receive unbiased advice that will help you make smart choices for your home and your investment?

Do you want to share your experience and get support from others?

To answer these questions, CES initiated an innovative community-based energy efficiency program, the Community Smart Power Program. Essentially, Community Smart Power (CSP) is designed to help families and organizations find ways to save energy which will, in turn, make the home or workplace more comfortable and save the owner money that would otherwise be spent on energy silently being wasted. The benefits are more than helping to save "watts", it strengthens the local economy by creating jobs and is good to the environment.

CES understands the importance of lowering high upfront costs for homeowners and business owners to invest in deep retrofits for efficiency upgrades. In the summer of 2009, CES was instrumental in getting Kitsap County to allocate $250,000 of its Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant money towards an energy efficiency financing program. As a result, Kitsap Credit Union is developing a financing program for Kitsap residents to support moderate-income families to implement energy efficiency measures. The purpose is to create local jobs and to serve a sector of the population that traditionally is overlooked.

3 reasons that make CSP special

1) Energy Audit Field Trip - people opening their doors for others to watch and learn from an energy audit performed by professionals.

2) Whole-house system approach – the auditors rely on building science to uncover energy savings and indoor air quality improvement opportunities. They provide fuel-neutral, unbiased advice.

3) Community Networking – people are brought together to share information and learn from each other.

Path towards greater energy efficiency:

Step 1: Participate in one of Community Energy Solutions’ scheduled energy audit field trips and see for yourself if your own house would be a good candidate.

Step 2: Arrange for an energy audit and find out what opportunities there are for you to save money and improve comfort.

Step 3: Contact CES and we will help you to prioritize the work needed, based on audit findings.

Step 4: Decide on financing for the work and start implementing the recommended measures

Step 5: Enjoy your more comfortable home!
